What is the best purchase you have ever made?
Vegan cooking can be complicated, but it can also be very simple if you have the right tools. Whilst I wouls never claim to be an incredible cook, I am someone who works a full time job and still wants to cook home made as much as possible. Which means over the years I have gathered a good collection of items that make cooking quick and simple.
A rice cooker
The MVP in my household, and if it ever broke, i would be replacing this within a second because I do not think I could function without it. Whilst I know cooking rice isn’t exactly difficult, a rice cooker does it all for me and means i have one less thing to be thinking about. I can literally set the rice cooker to cook the rice, and then leave it alone until it beeps to tell me it is done. Which means I can focus on doing other things, like cleaning the house or prepping the rest of the meal.
Air fryer
I admit, I too thought people were overreacting when they said that an air fryer is life changing but goodness me have I been humbled! My air fryer really is my favourite and I truly dread having to use an actual oven these days.
It can take a while to figure out what food cooks at what temperatures to get the best results, but once you figure it out it is golden! It also saves so much time compared to an actual oven, so again my precious after work time is not spent in the kitchen longer than I need to be.
A food processor/high powered blender
Again, another staple that makes recipes so much quicker. It can help make sauces, soups and smoothies (and far more no doubt) and it does so super quickly, again meaning I am not having to spend longer in the kitchen than I need to. The more high powered one you get, the quicker and more effective the results, but even a cheap blender will do a good job if you don’t want to spend big money on something.
I have a blender where the pots used to blend can also double as a cup, so that again can save me so much time with less washing up to do.
