Following on from my previous post made about this protect, Michelle has lasted the 21 days and has now left the farrowing crate. Animal Rising campaign lead Michelle left the crate on September 22, after entering it at 7am on September 1, thereby completing her 21 day protest to raise awareness about farrowing crates and the condition that female pigs are kept in with these contraptions.
Michelle said upon leaving the crate that whilst she is able to leave, 200,000 mother pigs in the UK are confined in farrowing crates every year, and they have no choice about entering or leaving. They are put through the same cycle again and again until their bodies are no longer considered productive. Whilst Michelle has been able to leave the crates, she contnued to protest the use of the crates and stated that this was not the last of their ongoing campaign.
