I was very excited to find this local family business near me the other day. It is based in Reading, although according to their website they can also do parties and weddings as they are very much a milkshake van that they can drive around. It is owned by a family and seems to be family run, and the van itself is covered in astroturf so it looks like a little rolling hill as it goes by. I am here for the whimsy and the fully vegan menu!
For starters, I was very impressed by their menu selection. Their flavours all seem very creative and new, and I definitely have not seen these being offered anywhere else before. I decided to try the toasted marshmallow flavour, as I wanted something relatively light, but I do plan to go back and make my way through all of the different flavours.
The toasted marshmallow milkshake was delicious. It really did taste like a toasted marshmallow, with a slightly burnt caramel taste and a nice sweetness to it. The milkshake itself was the perfect consistency, where it was similar to a thick yoghurt rather than actual ice cream which is impossible to actually drink through a straw. It was also surprisingly light – milkshakes can feel quite heavy at times but this one felt more like a smoothie, and I do think I could have drank about one of these without feeling sick or bloated. That being said, toasted marshmallow itself is quite a simple flavour, so whilst it was still very tasty, it was definitely not the most intriguing option on the menu. I went for this one however as a nice introduction to the brand as a whole, so will definitely be going back to try some of the more adventurous flavours!
I tried a medium to begin with, mostly because I am currently trying to focus on my health a bit more and lose a bit of weight, and for £4.50 I thought it was very good value for money. It tasted delicious and was a decent size for the £4.50 pricetag. It was slightly larger than a takeaway coffee so the price is pretty good considering there are far more ingredients to this milkshake than there is to a coffee. All of their prices actually seemed very reasonable, and their portions (from what I saw from those who ordered before me) seem like very good value for money for the amount of actual product given.
