I don’t think I will ever get tired of seeing these red kites in my area. We have quite a large flock of them which nest in a small woodland area at the end of my street, and even though they can be seen circling the houses all hours of the day, I still find them very cool and still point them out to my husand – which I am sure he really appreciates!
Although it is still somewhat annoying being woken up every morning at around 7am by these guys sitting at the top of a nearby tree and streeching their lungs out. I assume this is their call to mark their territory and to communicate where they are to the rest of the flock, but at 7am?! Guys…
As someone who has spent the past 30-ish years living in quite a built up, busy area, I am used to hearing sirens and traffic, so these birds are a very welcome change. As I said, I don’t think I will ever get over the fact that my noisiest neighbours are the birds!
