Krispy Kreme cherry bakewell doughnut

A new season means new Krispy Kreme doughnuts, and it would obviously be very rude of me to not try them. There are two new flavours too, so it made a trip feel a bit more exciting knowing that I was going to have some new flavours to enjoy.

The cherry bakewell tastes exactly how you expect it to. It is still a sweet doughnut, but the cherry was actually quite a tart flavour so it cut through the sugar of the doughnut quite nicely. There are little flecks of cherry on top of the doughnut, and whilst they are pretty to look at, I don’t think they really added a lot to the overall flavour. Luckily, despite being based on cherry bakewell tarts (or so I assume) there are no almonds in this – I did check the nutritional guide too! This is really a cherry doughnut, so if you like cherry flavours then you will surely enjoy this. It is a little bit sweeter than your standard cherry bakewell, as obviously there are no savoury almonds included to counter the sweet, but I didn’t find this sickly at all and it was actually a very refreshing doughnut.

Being a Krispy Kreme doughnut, it is very reasonably priced. One doughnut tends to be around £2-£3, depending on how big the doughnut is and whether or not it is a limited edition doughnut. I bought this as part of a multipack, so that brought the individual price of the doughnut down even further. But no matter how many doughnuts you buy, I would never say that Krispy Kreme is expensive. With that in mind though, you get what you pay for – the doughnuts are very reasonably priced, and are very yummy, but they’re also a relatively cheap option so they aren’t going to be doing anything mind-blowingly creative with their flavours. But then Krispy Kreme do their doughnuts so well, no matter what flavour you pick you are likely to have a very tasty doughnut.
