I have struggled with my skin since I was a pre-teen, and whilst it has improved as I have grown older, I am still very prone to breakouts and issues with my skin. Especially during winter, my skin can get very dry and this seems to make it even more prone to issues. I have slowly been going through a trial and error process to find out what products work best for my skin and I think I have finally cracked it! This is my morning routine, as I have a few products I use overnight that have also helped, but this is my main routine which I try my hardest to always stick to every day.
Cleanser: Simply Pure gentle foaming cleanser
This face wash really is the gentlest thing I think I have ever put on my face. It lathers up to a very light and fluffy wash and leaves my skin feeling clean without being red from any harsh chemicals. It does have a slight smell to it – not necessarily a bad small but a somewhat chemical smell to it – but this does not linger on my hands nor my skin when washed off and does leave my skin feeling softer and smoother.

Toner: Simple soothing facial toner
Again this is a very gentle toner. It leaves me skin feeling soft without leaving any parts of my face red from the chemicals used. I also like that it does not need a lot of product to be effective, so this bottle seems to be lasting me for a very long time, which is also a major bonus becuase this product is already very affordable.

Serum: Simply Pure hydrating day serum
Simialr to the facial cleanser, this product is very gentle on my skin but I think this product alone is what has changed my skin so drastically. My skin finally seems to have some bounce to it, and my colour tends to me more consistent throughout my face. Previously I would really strugle with red cheeks and a red t-zone, whereas now my skin feels far more balanced. During winter this little serum has done some serious hard work, as my skin will drink this up as soon as it is put on my face. It doesn’t have any smell to it whihc is also a bonus. Like with the toner too, a little bit of this product goes a long way, so I have not yet needed to replace this in over 8 months of this routine.

Moisturiser/SPF: B by Supervdrug Protect SPF 50 moisturiser
My research stated that this step can be split into two (so you can use a moistersier followed by an SPF cream) but I decided to make things easier for myself and just buy a combined product. Granted, the UK does not get much sunshine, but SPF is still very much needed even when it is cloudy out. This cream leave smy skin feeling very bouncy and gives it a nice dewy look that does tend to last me the whole day. In the winter, my skin craves as much moisture as it can get, and again this really does help keep my skin healthy during winter, but I do think it may be a bit too heavy for summer, so I shall experiment some more this year with it and let you know if I do swap this out for a lighter version.

On a daily basis, as with all habits and routines, I don’t think this routine makes much difference to my skin, but I have definitely noticed that my skin has improved massively over the past 6 months or so that I have been using these products together. Now of course there are some days where I do not manage to do every step, or some days where I don’t do any skincare at allbecause life has just gotten in the way, but the difference in my skin is so noticeable when I am consistent with this routine that I do try my hardest to keep it up everyday. I still get the occassional breakout or patch of dry skin, but I do notice that my skin recovers a lot quicker from these incidents than it used to, and I like to think it’s because of this skincare routine.
