Now that Halloween is over with, the Christmas spirit has absolutely taken over the UK. Granted, I think this began at the beginning of October, but here we are in November and I swear I can barely move for the amount of Christmas decorations currently in the shops. I am not normally one who decorates for the various holidays, but as we all know by now I am a sucked for new food so my Christmas preparation usually involves trying all of the new christmas food so I know exactly what the plan is for the Christmas period itself.
Starting off with the most important snack over Christmas: Biscuits. Chocolate biscuits. With a Christmas spin.

I am not sure what the link between Christmas time and chocolate orange flavouring, but I am here for it. My (completely unresearched and unverfied) belief is due to the Terry’s Chocolate Orange, which for as long as I can remember was the sign that Christmas season was upon us. One of the best parts of Christmas day was taking turns to see who could smash the chocolate orange and thus who got to have the first peice. For those of my followers not from the UK or who do not know what a Terry’s Chocolate Orange is, just see here.

Bourbon biscuits are also a staple of British culture, and so it make sense that the orange flavouring would eventually be added to the (second) best of the British chocolate biscuit (a chocolate digestive still wins in my opinion). The orange flavouring is strong but not overpowering, which is refreshing since so often the orange flavouring can be played down so it is a ‘subtle’ flavour. The biscuits themselves are very tasty, and the chocolate is your standard chocolate biscuit flavouring. It is consistent and tasty, but it obviously isn’t going to do anything to blow your mind or reinvent the flavour combination.
As these are special for christmas, they are ever so slightly more expensive than the non chocolate orange version. This packet was £1.20, while a normal packet of standard bourbons is usually around 90p. Not a massive price difference, but still a difference. I do like that they add a little bit of christmas fun to my cookie jar, and they are very tasty, so maybe these are worth the extra 30p for the fun extra over the christmas period.
