The joy of summer approaching is that all of the fruity and summery smells start to make a reappearance. No more wintery and cosy vibes, it is back to feeling like a tropical party within the beauty world. I am trying to use less plastic, so the Faith in Nature brand has been on my radar for a while due to their carbon balanced approach and recyclable packaging. They recently had a sale on at my local Holland and Barrett store, so I took the chance and grabbed a few of the soap bars to test out.

To start with this soap smells very strongly of tropical dragon fruit, which I absolutely love. Luckily, it isn’t as strong a smell once on your skin, and instead leaves a very subtly fruity smell that smells fresh and inviting but still very subtle and discrete. The soap does lather up into a very light and fluffy mass of bubbles, so it does feel very decadent even in the shower. It also feels very soft on my skin, and I am someone who tends to get quite dry skin. Once the suds are washed off, it does seem to leave a very slight texture on my skin, but I believe this is the dragon fruit oil just settling into my skin. Once dried, my skin is noticeably softer and does feel more hydrated. I think I notice it most on my arms, as my elbows especially can get quite dry, yet this soap does a great job of adding a little extra hydration.
One issue I have found though is that the scent doesn’t seem to stay put once you leave the shower. The smell lingers ever so slightly once dried off, but as soon as I add any other scent – even just a standard body lotion or cream – then the smell is completely gone. Which I do find to be a shame as I really love the smell of dragon fruit, and fruity fragrances in general, so it does seem a waste that all of the scent is in the soap itself but no where else once used.

The bar itself is roughly the size of my palm, so is your standard soap size. It did begin with a nice little stamp on top, but this did vanish by the third or fourth wash. Not a major issue, just always something funny I notice – the stamps are always a nice touch but they never last so it does seem like a little wasted effort. This bar cost me £2.50 but this was because it was on sale. Usually they sell for around £3.50, give or take a few pennies depending on where you are shopping. I have been using this for about a month now and it is only now starting to look noticeably smaller, so my hope is to get at least 3-4 months out of this bar. It doesn’t take a lot to get enough of a lather for a whole body, so I do think this will last a decent amount of time.
