I recently had to travel in -5 degrees (Celsius as I am in the UK) and to say I was in a bad mood whilst doing so would be the biggest understatement of my life. I am not made for the cold – anything under 15 degrees and I am in my thermal clothing and heavy jumpers – and with the amount of frost that the UK has had this winter makes travel really annoying to deal with.

Then I saw this little guy, and all bad feelings instantly vanished as I watched him hopping around and enjoying life. He hoped around the train station platform I was standing on for a few minutes, before flying off to settle in the bushes that line the train tracks.
There is a belief that robins are sent by deceased loved ones, so that your deceased loved ones can check up on you and tell you that they miss you. I am not religious, but I am spiritual, and this idea does always bring me comfort that maybe a loved one sent me a little sign of comfort whilst I stood in the freezing cold waiting for my train. Seeing robins always brings me a little feeling of comfort and lifts my spirits. I guess it also helps that they are adorable little birds too…
