Yorkshire Soap Company whipped soap watermelon sugar

The winter has really set here in the UK – I think we are even forecast snow next week! – so I am doing my best to hang onto those summer vibes for as long as possible. Which means ensuring that all of my soaps, bath and beauty bits all smell like summer so I can have that little bit of an escape during my shower.

I have said before that I am a big fan of The Yorkshire Soap Company. The downside is that I do not live anywhere close to Yorkshire so largely can only buy their goods when I visit Yorkshire or if I order everything online. I do find with scented items though it is very important to be able to test the smell first before buying – sometimes the ones that sound the nicest end up smelling the worst! So let me help you a little bit by reviewing the watermelon sugar whipped soap.

To start with, this smells like candy. If you have ever had the Sour Patch Kids watermelon slices, this soap smells the exact same as those candies. As with the chocolate orange soap previously, the smell is actually very strong in soap form, but once lathered up and rinsed off the body this soap leaves a very subtle smell instead. I very much appreciate this more subtle fragrance for after the shower, but I do love the very strong smell during my shower, again for that very yummy escapism. It does smell like food, so just a reminder that it is absolutely not to be eaten!

The soap itself is still a hard soap. When I first saw ‘whipped soap’ I had expected it to be more like a mousse texture, but it is indeed hard soap in a different mould so it looks like it has been whipped. Perhaps something to be aware of if you are someone who struggles with textures at all. For me personally, this doesn’t change anything. The soap is still very much functional, even though I do find whipped soap to be a little bit more fun. The soap does scrape off from the container very easily into your hands and I have found that you need a very small amount as the soap itself does lather up very nicely and very quickly. I tend to use roughly two fingertips worth of soap per shower and this is more than enough for me. The soap lathers up into these very soft, frothy bubbles which is always a fun addition to any bath routine, and I find that it leaves my skin feeling very soft and hydrated. I do also feel that this product will last me easily about 6 months, if not longer depending on how much of the soap I use per shower.

Now The Yorkshire Soap Company is quite luxurious. I would put it at the same level as Lush, where the fragrances and the range of products that they offer and very similar to that of Lush. However I would say that Lush is quirky, whilst The Yorkshire Soap Company is fancy. That’s the best way I can think to distinguish between the two. With that in mind then, The Yorkshire Soap Company is quite expensive compared to the products you can find at local shops. This tub cost me £8 which is quite a lot when you think that all I’ve bought it some soap that has been put in a fancy mould. But I also think that it is absolutely worth it for that extra little decadence in life. As I mentioned before, I also think that this tub will easily last me about 6 months, so it does make the cost feel a little more justifiable when I know I am buying something very decadent and luxurious that will last me the better part of a year.
