Today’s focus is on finding some inspiring stories about the work that people are doing within conversation or within the environmental protection movement as a whole. This is such a fun activity, and it also acts as a nice reminder that you are not alone in this fight, that there are so many people out there doing wonderful things for the movement and for the environment. It is also always interesting for me to see just how different the approaches are, which just highlights again that there is no ‘right way’ to advocate for a cause that is important to you – you can bring to this movement something that no one else can, and that is always something to remember.
Here are a few stories that I have read about this week that gave me a spark of inspiration:
Women fighting for the Female Leadership Coalition to ensure that female voices are heard as part of environmental discussions.
Greta Thunberg’s recent commentary on COP29. Whether you agree with her or not, you cannot deny that this woman has been at the forefront of environmental activism since she was a literal child, and for one really admire that dedication.
Anything that Jane Goodall says. Literally any book, any interview, any statement she makes is inspiring and exciting. She talks about animals and the environment with so much passion that it is hard to not feel inspired by her. She is the type of woman I want to be when I grow up.
Some of the amazing people fighting to protect wildlife within Columbia. Again highlighting all the different ways that people are working to protect the environment and local wildlife, whilst also highlighting just how dangerous this work can be in some parts of the world. Puts it all into perspective for me.
