What things give you energy?
I am the textbook definition of an introvert. Whilst there are times when I love hanging out with lots of people, I do find them to be quite draining and I usually need at least a full day of silence to recover. Nothing resets my mind better than a quiet day at home, with endless cups of tea, and just me and my thoughts to play around with.
I also find that running, and fitness in general, gives me energy. Now of course there will be some days where my workouts feel physically exhausting, but in at least 9/10 workouts it feels like a mental reset. Everything I was worried about prior to my workout is suddenly put in to perspective, and is usually never as important as I first thought. I know it is time for a rest though when my workout doesn’t give me that mental clarity. That’s usually my first sign that I am in need of a true rest day, where I limit all physical activity and just focus on rest and relaxation, and just binge watch TV shows or have a movie marathon.
In short though, some of the hobbies I have found that help to reset my mind and give me a boost of energy include:
- getting lost in a story driven video game
- re-reading a favourite book
- writing
- journalling
- running
- yoga
- a gym session
- cuddles with an animal
- the perfect cup of tea
- nature documentaries
