Summer is very slowly edging it’s way towards England, which means I am starting to be on the lookout for lighter meals for when the summer heat really starts to hit hard. England is not built for hot weather so I am always keen to find quick meals that are light but filling.

I always find Meatless Farm products to be a sage product to buy. The food isn’t ground breaking but it is always tasty and affordable. So I was excited to finally try their nduja sausage ravioli. Their other offering, the Meatless farm beef, red wine and porcini mushroom girasole is one of my staple quick meals so I was optimistic for this.
I will admit that when I bought this, I didn’t know what nduja was. Upon a Google, it is a spicy sausage. Obviously this is the mestfree, vegan friendly version. I have to admit that the spice is quite strong when you first take a bite, but thankfully it does level out the more you eat so it is never burning. I find sometimes companies think more spice means more flavour, but thankfully Meatless Farm knew when to say enough was enough. It’s got a good, spicy kick that definitely wakes you up, but it isn’t so strong that it melts tour mouth off by the end of the meal. The sausage mixture was also surprisingly creamy, so there were no large lumps of sausage in it if that’s something you don’t like.

The downside with this though is that one packet claims to be 2 portions. Which equals out to 4 pieces of pasta. Which is about 250 calories. I have said this before but 250 calories is not a meal! Possibly one packet to yourself would be enough, but half a packet is definitely not enough to fill you up. You will definitely want to have this with something else on the side – I tend to have it with another packet of pasta which again my husband and I share, so in total we both get a meal that’s about 500-600 calories.
One packet is £3, which for one meal isn’t the worst price. I do think that one packet should contain more food, as I do think this probably only works as an actual meal for one person. At the moment though, it is currently part of a 3 for 2 deal at Tesco (at least it is where I live in Hertfordshire) which potentially brings the price down ever so slightly. I think this is worth the try, and it was nice to have a meal with a little bit more spice than usual, but in true Meatless Farm style, it’s nothing ground breaking.
