I actually have these on a semi regular basis, but it only occurred to me recently that I have never actually done a post about them! Which is a shame because these are actually pretty tasty and a really helpful staple for me as someone who is back trying to track my macros and get back on a healthier way of eating. I am due to start training for a marathon at the end of the month so the sooner I sort my diet out and get in a good routine with that, the more I can just focus on my training.
I mentioned in my Juicy Marbles posts that the Juicy Marbles steaks taste almost identical to these Vivera steaks, which they really do. These Vivera steaks though are a lot thicker, and far more dense, so if you liked the texture of the Juicy Marbles then these steaks are the complete opposite. I personally quite like the denser taste, as I find that they do leave me satisfied at the end of my meal. I found the Juicy Marbles left me still starving, and other dense foods can sometimes weigh in my stomach a bit and just leave me feeling far too full. So these steaks are a very nice, comfortable about of product.
They have a slightly smoky taste to them, but also have an odd sweetness, I believe from the beetroot that is used. As such, I don’t believe that they need any other sauce or condiment added to them. They fry up really nicely in about 10 minutes and I find that they are still quite juicy despite being so dense. That being said, if you wanted to add a sauce to them, I don’t think it would greatly take away from the flavour at all so do feel free to try it out!
Unlike the Juicy Marbles, these steaks are £2.50 for a pack of two. Which is fine for my husband and I. We tend to have these with rice and veg, but I also imagine that this could taste quite good if you cut it into slices to have in a sandwich. I think £2.50 is a really good price for these, as that is the standard price for most meat alternatives at the moment. That being said I don’t have these more than once a week, so I do wonder if flavour fatigue would set in if you did want to have these more than that. These are still far cheaper than the Juicy Marbles though, so if you did enjoy the Juicy Marbles steaks, you will most likely enjoy these ones as well.
