Doughnut Time Tropic like it’s hot

It is slowly starting to feel like spring now in England and so naturally every food on offer if fruity, and refreshing, and just going hard with the ‘summer vibes’. I am fully here for it too as I am someone who is not made for the cold and the dark, so decided to try a bit more of a fruity doughnut on my most recent trip to Doughnut Time.

This doughnut tasted like a tangfastic candy – slightly sour but very fruity, with I think mango and passionfruit as the main flavours in the icing. It had that very sharp, tart flavour that sour candy has but this was offset slightly with the sweet of the icing sugar and the more fruity flavours. It was a flavour I was not expecting at all but it was a very pleasant shock.

The doughnut thankfully wasn’t actually that sweet. It had a fruity sweetness to it rather than a sugary sweetness, so it wasn’t sickly or overpowering. Again, the Doughtnut Time doughnuts are huge so eating more than one is always going to be a struggle, but luckily this flavour was very subtle in comparison to other sickly sweet flavours. I think the sour candy flavouring did help to offset the sugar a lot.

Doughtime Time doughnuts are usually £5, which this one was. I think this is good value, as with all Doughnut Time doughnuts because they are usually way bigger than a normal doughnut and are also quite the sight to behold. However obviously if you don’t enjoy sour candy, then this doughnut will absolutely not be for you.
