Doughlicious chocolate chip

After the success of the first Doughlicious product, I decided to try their other vegan offering, which is the chocolate chip cookie dough ball. I noticed that they also had a salt and sweet popcorn flavoured option, but unfortunately this was not vegan friendly. It is still gluten free though so if any of you non-vegan gluten free readers fancy a special treat, this one did sound very exciting.

In all honesty, this product is very similar to the chocolate truffle option, aside from of course the slightly different flavour. Again, the instructions on the book say to leave the ball out of the freezer for around 2 minutes before eating, but as with the chocolate truffle option, these balls are huge and so the first few bites were still a bit of a struggle as I was still having to bite into solid ice cream. It of course did soften after two bites, possibly from the heat of holding it in my hands, but just something to be aware of if you have sensitive teeth.

I found this one to be far easier to eat though as the cookie dough outside seemed to hold its structure far better than the chocolate truffle one did. I still do think however that they are just slightly too big – my fingers were numb by the time I finished from holding the ball for so long. I did really enjoy the cookie dough outside, as the chocolate chips really did make it taste like a cookie. The vanilla ice cream in the middle was slightly sweet, so it just added to the whole ‘cookie’ flavour of the whole ball, and the chocolate chips also gave it a really satisfying crunchy texture. I am not normally someone who enjoys vanilla ice cream, as I do find it to be either very plain, or it is too sickly, but I thought that the cookie dough covering did help to ‘spice up’ the vanilla a bit and vary the taste just enough to make it a bit more exciting.

I could not say which one I preferred out of this one and the chocolate truffle. Both are really good and I think they are both very much equal. I think I’d only really ever chose one over the other based purely on what I fancied in that moment. The chocolate chip vanilla ice cream was creamy and very moreish, and as I said it very much did just taste like a giant chocolate chip cookie.

These were £3.25 and again I think this was a very reasonable price. There are 6 balls per packet, and even though these chocolate chip balls are insanely moreish, one is more than enough to satisfy that sweet treat craving. Anymore than one and I think they would not only get a bit sickly, but they would also freeze my fingers off due to their size. A packet of these would obviously last me for 6 sittings, which could mean that they either last 6 days when I eat them daily or they last about a month when I have one once or twice a week.
