I can alway tell when it is winter because all of the local squirrels who live in the trees around my house all look VERY chunky. I have worked out that not only are they ravenous when it comes to eating all of the bird feed from the many bird feeders dotted around the housing development I live on, but I’ve also noticed about four different people who leave food out for the squirrels on a regular basis. Two people even feed them by hand!

By spring and summer, they start to lean up a bit since food is far easier to find and I don’t think they get fed by people during the warmer months, but in winter they definitey start to look very round and very fluffy. I really want to pick them up and cuddle them because they look just so darn cute and squishy, but I know that will end…horribly. And just another little PSA not to touch wild animals.
But look at that squishy little fluff ball!
