New book reviews

One of the things I began to focus on more in 2023 was reading. As a child, I could read for hours at a time and easily get through a hundred books a year. Sadly, as with all childhood things, I lost the joy of reading as I grew older and my focus shifted onto matters such as my university degree and building my career. But in 2023 I made it a mission of mine to start focussing on reading again, be that via audiobooks or physical books, and in 2023 I managed to read 43 books in the year. Which I was very impressed with! Now in 2024 my goal is 50…although I may reassess as I go on as 60 may be doable if I really put my mind to it!

I, personally, love horrors and thrillers, and books that probably don’t appeal to most people because they tend to focus on the more gritty aspects of human life. But I also love reading stories about animals and as such, I have managed to amass quite a few books that focus on animals and their stories. I am not someone who focuses on the age the book is aimed at – a good story is a good story and that doesn’t change just because it’s meant for a child (Harry Potter is the prime example of this).

I therefore thought it might be fun to share my thoughts on the books I read relating to animals, and to hopefully also get some recommendations from you guys about what I should read next. As I say, I am not super bothered about genres as I want to try genres that I don’t normally read (therefore very keen for any romance or historical books you guys could recommend) and to just have another area of this blog where we can all talk about our interests in a very casual and sharing manner.

So watch this space, as I plan to have a few recommendations ready in the next few weeks! In the meantime, if you guys have any animal related book recommendations then please do leave me a comment or drop me a message so I can make sure to add them to my To Be Read list!
