A slightly different type of floof today…
I went for a run the other day and spotted this absolutely massive black bird sunning himself on a branch on the other side of the canal to the one I was running along. He was probably the size of a heron (if not a little shorter) and was completely jet black.
He looked right at me at one point whilst I took his picture and I genuinely think he could have taken off with me if he wanted to. He was absolutely magnificent to look at, and I was more than happy to add an extra few minutes to my overall run time just to get a photo of him. Granted my phone is not the greatest (it is about 4 years old at this point, which by tech years is pretty ancient!) but I tried my best to capture his image.
From my own research, I believe he may be a cormorant as that was the closest definition I could find and the images look very much like him. But if any of you can say what type of bird you think he is I would be more than happy to hear your suggestions. And if you know any cool facts about them, I absolutely want to hear those too!
