Doughnut Time D’oh Nut

When you think of a doughnut, you think about Homer Simpson. And no doubt you drool in the same way that he does for doughnuts. I know I do…especially when it comes to Doughnut Time doughnuts. I have tried the majority of the doughnuts that they have on offer and I stand by the opinion that they are the best doughnuts available.

Now yes, this doughnut is once again the size of child’s head but it is quite a basic doughnut. Some of Doughnut Time’s offerings are likely to cause diabetic shock, but this one is far more understated. The doughnut is your basic ring doughnut with sprinkles and while it is delicious it is definitely nothing extravagant. The doughnut itself is very light and fluffy, and the icing has a very slight sugary taste to it without causing sugar shock. The sprinkles add a fun little crunch, but really this is a doughnut where you get exactly what it looks like – a decent doughnut.

Now Doughnut Time are pretty expensive. Each doughnut costs £4.95, with some of the bigger ones costing around £5.50. So not a cheap doughnut at all. Personally, I think Doughnut Time doughnuts are absolutely worth the higher price point, because some of their doughnuts really do push the limit on what a food can do. But for this one, whilst it is a really good doughnut, it is not special enough to really justify such a price point. Definitely worth the try if you get the chance, but not really something I would go out of my way to buy. However some of their other offerings, I would absolutely travel for – and I regularly do I have to admit.

Overall: 7/10. A better doughnut than average, but not the best doughnut that Doughnut Time have ever offered.
