Buttermilk caramel nougat bar

Following on from the Love Raw bar, I have been on the lookout for more vegan dupes of favourite chocolate bars. I have tried Buttermilk products before and I have always found them to be a solid and consistent brand. Their chocolate has been tasty and reasonably priced, but it doesn’t do anything spectacular. Again, not every brand needs to be innovative and ground breaking and so long as the products are good, I am happy.

I therefore decided to try this caramel nougat. From what I can tell this seems to be like a Mars Bar or possibly even a Milky Way (if it had white chocolate I guess?). Now personally I always preferred a Snickers to a Mars bar, but aside from the peanuts there is very little difference in the two bars.

This bar was indeed just like a Mars Bar. It had the soft, gooey nougat with the rich caramel and it was indeed very yummy. I have to say though it wasn’t overly sweet the way you would expect a chocolate bar to be. The nougat was quite plain, but I think this worked well as when you combined it with the caramel and the chocolate it was a very pleasant sweet treat without being to sweet or even sickly.

It was also a really good size. The bar was just big enough to leave you satisfied, and I think had they made it bigger it would have started to get sickly and overpowering by the time you got to the end of it.

It is also a reasonable price. I got this for £1.20 at my local Tesco but I have seen it sell for cheaper and for a higher price depending on where you are looking. But again, I think anywhere around the £1 mark is a decent price for this chocolate bar and is relatively on par with how much you may pay for a Mars Bar generally.

Overall: 7/10. A very good alternative to a Mars Bar, but not the best bar out there on the market. Perhaps soon they may offer an alternative to Snickers?
